Who We Help

In short we treat people who need help with behavioral and emotional issues as well as some physiological issues. We help a wide range of patients. However, we have developed some encouraging areas of specialty here at 17th Avenue Psychiatry.

Children

We love children. And, we love families. As you can see we have a very kid-friendly, fun environment. Our patients find our office area to be creative and relaxing. We often hear comments on how it doesn’t seem like a doctor’s office. And, that’s kind of the point. Crayons, books, a great fish tank and Josie our dog are relaxing to us as well as our patients.

When a child is struggling with a behavioral issue such as ADD/ADHD, Autism, depression or anything else, we know the whole family is affected. So, family members are always involved in the therapy process. We have great success changing the lives of children and families every day.

Adolescents

Teenage years are tough, even without struggling through a behavioral or emotional issue. We care deeply about struggling teens. While it is fun and relaxing, our office area is not a pediatrics ward. We don’t treat our teenage patients like they are young children, nor do we expect them to be adults. Most are at a point where they can take a higher level of responsibility in their treatment and behaviors but still need professional and family support.

As with younger children, families are involved in the treatment process. We particularly enjoy families that realize there is hope for their teen. Therapies take time and commitment, but we continue to realize how many adolescent patients can improve by leaps and bounds.

Adults

While much of our practice involves conditions that affect young and adolescent children, we do treat adults regularly. Like our younger patients, many of our adult patients come to us because past treatments and therapies have not given them the success they hoped for.

Our integrative approach and innovative therapies often provide discovery, growth and relief for adults that have struggled with behavioral or emotional issues for years. Even if you have dealt with an issue much of your life you may not have to deal with it the rest of your life.
